For many churches personal visitation is not a relic of the past. It is alive and well. According to a 2005 George Barna survey, visitation ranks fourth on a list of church priorities next to discipleship development, evangelism, and preaching.

이르면 올 하반기부터 우리 국민이 미국에 갈 때 공항에서 까다로운 대면 심사를 받지 않아도 될 전망이다. 법무부는 석동현 출입국ㆍ외국인정책본부장과 알랜 버신 미국 국토안보부 국경관리청장이 양국 국민의 '무인자동출입국심사대 상호 이용'에 원칙적으로 합의하고 시범 프로그램 개발을 위한 공동선언문에 서명했다고 21일 밝혔다. 미국 워싱턴에서 진행된 이번 합의로 한국은 전 세계에서 네덜란드와 독일에 이어 세번째, 아시아 국가로는 처음으로 미국의 무인자동출입국심사대(Global Entry Program.GEP)를 이용하는 국가가 될 전망이다. 이에 따라 우리 국민이 국내에서 사전 승인심사를 받고 지문 등의 바이오 정보를 제공하면 미국 공항에서는 장시간 줄을 서서 대기하다 입국심사관과 얼굴을 마주보고 심사받는 절차를 생략하고 곧장 입국할 수 있게 된다. 미국의 GEP는 현재 뉴욕과 LA, 덜레스 등 20개 주요 공항에 설치ㆍ운영되고 있으며, 우리나라는 인천국제공항과 김포공항에서 비슷한 프로그램을 시행하고 있다. 두 나라는 본격 시행에 앞서 프로그램을 시범 운영키로 하고 가입 자격과 승인절차, 향후 시스템 구축 방안 등을 협의했다. 시범 프로그램은 두 나라가 공동 개발한 인터넷 홈페이지를 통해 무인자동출입국심사대 이용 신청을 받은 뒤 각각 자국 국민을 심사하는 방식으로 진행될 예정이다. 법무부 관계자는 "미국과의 이번 무인 입국심사대 상호 이용 합의는 우리의 국경관리시스템이 안전하다는 것을 인정받은 것"이라며 "가능하면 연내에 프로그램을 시행할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다. 법무부 통계에 따르면 작년 한 해 한국을 찾은 미국인은 69만3천892명, 체류자는 12만7천140명으로 전년보다 7.1%, 3.6% 각각 늘었으며, 미국을 방문한 우리 국민은 97만5천336명으로 32.5%나 급증했다. In 1861, America went to war over the issue of slavery. We thought slavery was abolished in the 19th Century.

However, in 2008, an estimated 27 million people are enslaved. In 2010, human trafficking is the number one crime worldwide.

42% of Americans said that the meaning of Easter was the resurrection of Jesus or that it signifies Christ death and return to life. Even within the religious definitions offered by Americans there is a certain degree of confusion: 2% of Americans said that Easter is about the “birth of Christ”; another 2% indicated it was about the “rebirth of Jesus”; and 1% said it is a celebration of “the second coming of Jesus.”Not included in the theistic category was another 3% who described Easter as a celebration of spring or a pagan holiday.

Surprisingly, the most significant Bible story of all - "the story of Jesus Christ rising from the dead, after being crucified and buried" - was also the most widely embraced.

Today, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, better known as the Mormon Church, is one of the world's richest and fastest-growing religious movements. Since World War II, its ranks have quadrupled to more than 8.3 million members worldwide. With 4.5 million U.S. members, Mormonism already outnumbers Presbyterians and Episcopalians combined. If current trends hold, by some estimates they will number 250 million worldwide by 2080 and surpass all but the Roman Catholic Church among Christian bodies.

오늘날 세계 가운데 가장 급성장하고 있는 종교적 운동은 몰몬교회로 잘 알려진 말일성도 예수그리스도의 교회이다. 제2차 세계 대전이후로 몰몬교의 순위는 네배로 증가하여서 전세계적으로 830만명을 넘어서 있다. 미국 내에서만 450만명의 교인을 가진 몰몬교는 벌써 장로교와 성공회 교인수를 합한 수를 훨씬 넘어섰다. 만약 이대로 지속된다면, 몰몬교인의 수는 2080년에는 25억명에 이를 것으로 계산할 수 있고 카톨릭교회를 제외한 모든 기독교파를 능가하게 될 것이다.
