All the carefully planned mission strategy in the world will be of no avail unless it is activated by divine power. When someone else is hurting, we wrestle with the theoretic "problem of evil." We ask, "why does a good God allow bad things happen to good people?" However, when we are one who is suffering, the question often changes. We no longer are as interested in a philosophical argument. Our pain pushes us to ask much more personal questions. What we really want to know is Does God really care when bad things happen to me? Does He still love me? Does He even see what I am going through? Does He have any idea how much I hurt? The answer to all those questions is yes. - Dave Earley

'According to your faith be it unto you'  was Christ's great law of healing and blessing in His earthly ministry. These mighty measures are limited by the measures that we bring. God deals out His heavenly treasures to us in these glorious vessels, but each of us must bring our drinking cup and according to its measure we shall be filled. But even the measure of our faith may be a divine one. Thank God, the little cup has become enlarged through the grace of Jesus until from its bottom there flows a pipe into the great ocean. And if that connection is kept open we shall find that our cup is as large as the ocean and never can be drained to the bottom. Jesus has said to us, literally, "Have the faith of God , and surely this is a limitless measure. Let us claim the mighty promise, Let us light the torches dim; Let us join the glorious chorus, Nothing is too hard for Him.
- A. B. Simpson

The evangelistic harvest is always urgent. The destiny of men and nations is always being decided. Every generation is strategic. We are not responsible for the past generation,
and we cannot bear the full responsibility for the next one, but we do have our generation. God will hold us responsible as to how well we fulfill our responsibilities to this age and take advantage of our opportunities. - Billy Graham

"I have read the lives of many eminent Christians who have been on earth since the Bible days.  Some of them, I see, were rich, and some poor.  Some were learned, and some unlearned. Some were Calvinists, and some were not.  Some have loved to use a liturgy, and some to use none.  But one thing, I see, they all had in common. They have all been men of prayer." - Bishop J. "God is so kind and loving that, of course, He will forgive us. That thought, based solely on emotion, cannot be found anywhere in the New Testament. "The Word of God is full of precepts, encouragements, and exampels, tending to excite and induce the people of God to be much in prayer for this mercy. The Spirit of God is the chief blessings, for it is the sum of all spiritual blessings; which we need infinitely more than others, and wherein our true and eternal happiness consists. That which is the sum of blessings Christ purchased, is the sum of the blessings Christians have to pray for is the Holy Spirit." - Jonathan Edwards

Obey God in the thing He shows you, and instantly the next thing is opened up. One reads tomes on the work of the Holy Spirit, when one five minutes of drastic obedience would make things as clear as a sunbeam. 'I suppose I shall understand these things some day!' You can understand them now. It is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience, and heaven opens and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away. God will never reveal more truth about Himself until you have obeyed what you know already.
- Oswald Chambers

The principal cause of my leanness and unfruitfulness is owing to an unaccountable backwardness to pray. I can write or read or converse or hear with a ready heart; but prayer is more spiritual and inward than any of these, and the more spiritual any duty is the more my carnal heart is apt to start from it. When I can find my heart in f_r_a_m_e and liberty for prayer, everything else is comparatively easy. - Richard Newton

A most comforting example in the Bible is that in the twelfth chapter of Acts. There we find a group of earnest Christians...spending the entire night in prayer for Peter...in prison and...to be slain tomorrow. (God)...sent his angel who woke up Peter, broke off the chains, opened the doors, and brought Peter out...(When Rhoda said) 'Peter is here!' they stopped praying long enough to say 'Thou art mad!...when finally they let him in, 'they were astonished,' says the Bible.  I have laughed again and again at this incident.  All night long they had been praying for Peter to get out of jail, and then they did not believe it.  But they had faith enough to pray, and that is not all; they had faith enough to get the answer!  They had many doubts.  Who can blame them?  But they also had a brokenhearted, pleading, clinging faith that would not let God go until the answer came. - John R. Rice
